Kipp’s Split Pea Soup

 

9          cups     water

2          cups     split peas

9          oz        ham or 3 oz salt pork or ham hock

1          stalk     celery, chopped

            1          large    potato, diced

1          med     onion, chopped

1          clove    garlic, minced

1          tsp       marjoram

1          tbsp     oil

¼         tsp       course ground pepper

+ sauté onions and garlic in oil.

+ put every thing else into pot and bring to a boil.

+ simmer uncovered 1 hour or until the peas turn to mush

+ stir occasionally and add water as required.
